This was originally Book 4 in a series of Marketing Magic publications by Kent Cummins, but the other books are now out of print. This was the most popular book in the series, because it teaches (through actual examples) how to help your clients find the money to pay your fees. Fundraising, barter, and commercial sponsorship are all discussed, with examples. The information in this book, created in 1996 for entrepreneurial entertainers, has recently been adapted and included in a book published by the National Speakers Association.
This prop appears to be an ordinary lamp socket, but the wires coming out of it are frayed…so it obviously can’t work. With the addition of a Magic Light Bulb (sold separately), however, you can demonstrate the magic of electricity. Just screw in the Magic Light Bulb and pull the chain and the bulb lights up, just like if it were plugged into the wall! This provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the magic of electricity, as well as where our electricity really comes from…and why turning off the lights not only saves money, but helps keep our air clean. Script with teaching points is included.
Kids (and adults) are absolutely amazed and delighted as you pour all of the water (apparently) out of this small plastic jug, commenting on how water can become a scarce resource. And then you do it again. And again. And Again! All in all, you can “empty” this little jug half a dozen times, each time making a cogent comment about the importance of water conservation. It comes with a plastic measuring cup so that you can load it with exactly the right amount of water to perform this wonderful magic trick. And oh by the way…it works with any liquid, giving you lots of entertaining possibilities.
This trick is NOT in the Environmental Magic Kit…but maybe it should be! The effect is simple yet stunning: a small plastic cup and tube are shown to be empty. But when liquid is poured into the tube, it remains suspended! Or did it disappear? A silk handkerchief can be pushed through the tube without getting wet…so where did the water go? To answer that question, the plastic cup is pushed through the tube…and it emerges full of water! Imagine the possibilities when discussing how our water supplies disappear during a drought…yet overwhelm us during a flood. Instructions and story ideas are included.
Magic tricks are easy to master, yet have a powerful impact!

Puts FUN in sustainability!
YOU can use the fascination and fun of MAGIC to teach sustainability to children and adults! The Environmental Magic Kit was created for what was then the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC, now the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, or TCEQ) with a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which later recognized the project with a special award. Hundreds of trainers in Texas and around the country have since used the kit to add excitement to their teaching efforts. The attractive briefcase box includes “6 Tricks for Helping the Environment,” with two tricks each illustrating waste management, water quality, and air quality. You also get the Environmental Magic book, which explains how to effectively use magic as a teaching aid, and provides scripts and instructions for each of the six tricks: The Genie’s Bottle, The Flower Pan, Magic Water Jug, Ink to Goldfish, Magic Light Bulb, and Change Bag. The book also includes instructions for making a newspaper tree and sources for more magic. Two professionally-produced videos, originally on VHS tapes, have been remastered to DVD: one a performance of all six tricks that can be shown to the public, and one which specifically teaches trainers how to use the materials contained in the kit. The kit even includes a magic wand made from a coat hanger (an example of reuse).

The Environmental Magic book, originally created to accompany the Environmental Magic Kit, has been updated and now includes additional tips and tricks for helping the environment. Complete scripts and instructions are provided for The Genie’s Bottle, The Flower Pan, Magic Water Jug, Ink to Goldfish, Magic Light Bulb, and Change Bag, plus How to Make a Newspaper Tree and Sources for More Magic. Teach the value of composting in an amazing and entertaining way with “The Flower Pan.” Magicians call this versatile prop a “Chick Pan,” because you can change a real egg into a live baby chick with it. But when you put in grass clippings and organic waste, it magically changes into a rich fertile soil additive which can help you produce beauty in your own corner of the world…specifically, a colorful bouquet of flowers magically appears in place of the compost! (Spring Flowers sold separately)
This may be the most popular magic trick in the entire Environmental Magic Kit. Imagine showing a glass of black, sludgy water…the result of our failure to protect our groundwater from toxic chemicals. But cover the glass briefly with a simple handkerchief, and when removed the water is clear and clean…with live goldfish swimming in it! (Goldfish are NOT included, but are easy and inexpensive to get at any pet store.)
This easy-to-use magician’s prop is as versatile as they come! It’s called a “Change Bag” because you can change anything that fits into the bag into anything else that fits into the bag. The message in the Environmental Magic Kit is about keeping cars off our highway, and it is used to make toy cars disappear. (That’s right, the Change Bag can also be a Vanishing Bag…or a Production Bag.) But you can change colorful silk handkerchiefs into a butterfly, or cigarettes into almost anything else, or…well, let your imagination guide you. The Change Bag comes with complete instructions and a book of ideas for its use.
